Measurement of the Relative RateKe2+Kμ2+

Abstract

In an experiment at the Princeton-Pennsylvania Accelerator, the relative rate $\frac{{K_{e2\mathrm{}}}^{+}}{{K_{\mu 2}}^{+}}$ was measured to be (${1.8}_{-0.6\mathrm{}}^{+0.8\mathrm{}}$) × ${10}^{-5\mathrm{}}$. Combining this with previous measurements gives a world average of (${1.9}_{-0.4\mathrm{}}^{+0.5\mathrm{}}$) × ${10}^{-5\mathrm{}}$, which agrees with the universal $V-A$ theory prediction of 2.09 × ${10}^{-5\mathrm{}}$.
