Abstract
The growth of the duct system in the rabbit mammary gland is stimulated by the oestrus-producing hormone. The growth of lobules containing secretory alveoli in large numbers characteristic of pregnancy or pseudo-pregnancy was not stimulated by the oestrus-producing hormone or by an extract of the corpora lutea of swine alone, but when both were injected simultaneously growth of the mammary gland characteristic of advanced pregnancy was observed. Lactation, however, was not produced in these animals.
