Abstract
The admn. of Na benzoate resulted, in 10 of 11 expts., in a decrease in plasma glycine concn. The admn. of glycine before or together with the benzoate resulted in a larger output of hippuric acid than when benzoate alone was ingested. The rate of conjugation of glycine to benzoate, the availability of glycine for this purpose, and the size of the dose of benzoate, are important factors which affect hippuric acid synthesis in man. This publication has 6 references indexed in Scilit:
