Abstract

In the binary system Li—Ge we have found the new compound Li₇Ge2. It crystallizes orthorhombic, space group Cmmm—D_2h ¹⁹, a = 9,24 ±0,02 Å b = 13,21 ± 0,02 A and c = 4,63 ± 0,01 A. Li₇Ge₂ is not isotypic to Li₇Si₂, but there are many structural relations between their structures.
