ACTH and Cortisone in Diseases of the Skin

Abstract
MORE than 70 patients with cutaneous diseases have been treated at Massachusetts General Hospital, Peter Bent Brigham Hospital, Robert Breck Brigham Hospital and Children's Hospital with ACTH or cortisone. Although it would be premature to draw definite conclusions, a preliminary, evaluation of the results obtained will be attempted.The fact that ACTH and cortisone are capable of suppressing allergic hypersensitivity reactions as well as inflammatory reactions not solely due to allergy explains the beneficial effect exerted by these drugs on many cutaneous diseases.In discussing the effects of ACTH and cortisone on cutaneous diseases one can divide these diseases into . . .Keywords
