Abstract
Placenta previa in a primigravida Erythrocebus patas is described. The main clinical sign was massive vaginal hemorrhage in a gravid animal. A large oval monodiscoidal placenta was found implanted over the dilated internal os of the cervix during cesarean section. This is the first report of this condition in the patas monkey and the second account of its occurrence in a non-human primate.
