Abstract
Competition and cooperation are thought to represent the opposite extremes of organism interactions. I here show that the formation of aggregations in a sessile organism requires cooperation between individuals and that the gregarious pattern of habitat selection generating these aggregations is a response to a density dependence in the outcome of interference competition.This publication has 14 references indexed in Scilit:
