Abstract
Comparing the method previously described (I) with various procedures and facts related to the current controversy, the authors found no basis for doubting the existence of preformed creatinine in blood nor for considering only part of the measured amount of creatine as true creatine. Trichloracetic acid proved unsuitable to convert creatine to creatinine owing to premature decomposition of the acid. Incubation in approx. iV-HCl at 60[degree] for 24 hrs. gave as good conversion as the standard autoclaving method.
