Abstract
The effect of the DNA-extraction method used on fingerprint patterns of RAPD was studied usingStaphylococcus epidermidis andStreptococcus faecalis. The three methods tested (Chelex, microwave and phenol/chloroform) led to significantly different RAPD patterns. The microwave technique generated reproducible patterns and seems the most suitable for RAPD analysis of Gram-positive bacteria. Keywords
