Analysis of Ectopic Bone in Osteoma Cutis

Abstract

Specimens of ectopic bone from human skin were analyzed for their mineral content and found to correspond to normal bone. Microradiographs, calcium⁴⁵ studies, and autoradiographs were used to elucidate the nature of the ectopic bone. In addition, the uptake of tetracycline was demonstrated by a fluorescence technique.
