Abstract
The development of leukocyte antibodies in inbred strains of guinea pigs following skin homografting in demonstrated. These antibodies react strongly with lymphocytes and only weakly, or not at all, with neutrophils. Following repeat set-grafts in guinea pigs, a prompt and marked rise in leukocyte antibody titer takes place, suggesting an anamnestic response. The production of humoral antibodies reactive with leukocytes (lymphocytes) may be a general phenomenon following homografting in all species. The possible significance of such a phenomenon in relation to transplantation immunity and transplantation disease is discussed. Keywords
