Measured movement along the surface trace of an active thrust fault in the Buena Vista Hills, Kern County, California

Abstract

For the past twenty-four years, measurements have been made of continuing movement on an active thrust fault in the Buena Vista Hills oil field in Kern County, California. Data are presented which show the rate and accumulated ground movement normal to the strike of the fault. Maximum accumulated movement between pairs of control points has been 1.637 feet, corresponding to an average rate of 0.068 feet per year.
