Abstract
An exact, closed-form expression for the bit error rate of the simple transmit diversity (STD) scheme [in S.M. Alamouti, 1998] with receiver channel estimation errors is derived. It is shown that STD has a 3 dB performance degradation compared to maximal ratio combining when the signal-to-noise and channel estimation error-to-noise ratios are large.
