Effect of Various Levels of Vitamin B12 Upon Growth Response Produced by Aureomycin in Chicks

Abstract
In chicks on diets containing inadequate levels of vit. B12, the growth response to aureomycin was greater than when the vit. B12 level was adequate, thus indicating a sparing action of aureomycin on the vit. B12 requirement. In other expts. this relationship was not found. Aureomycin reduced mortality on diets containing no added vit. B12- Sulfa-methazine did not increase growth rate or exert a sparing effect on the vit. B12 requirement.
