Examination of secondary colonies of Bacillus paratyphi B by Pokrovskaja''s impression method revealed a wide morphological variety of cells, including spindle-shaped, and rope- and trypanosome-like forms. The authors believe that only the common rod forms are not destroyed in ordinary smear preparations. They plead for a wider recognition of the doctrine of pleomorphism.
