The pressure dependence of the thermoelectric power of the alkali metals at room temperature

Abstract
The thermoelectric power S of the alkali metals hat been measured under pressures up to 3000 atmospheres at room temperature. A pressure of about 400 atmospheres causes S to change sign in cesium. The results are discussed in terms of the distortion of the Fermi surface under pressure. A relationship between S and the pressure coefficient of electrical resistivity is noted.
