Selecting Liquid Phases for Multiple Column Gas Chromatography from Their Eigenvector Projections

Abstract
A systematic technique for selecting pairs of liquid phases for multicolumn gas chromatographic separations is presented. The ten-dimensional data published by McReynolds are reduced to two dimensions by projecting along the two primary eigenvectors. This allows the researcher to visually choose liquid phases that separate not only on the basis of polarity, but that also utilize other physical and chemical interactions.
