Abstract
We propose a new mechanism for the self-focusing of electromagnetic radiation in degenerate semiconductors. The effect is due to the velocity-dependent mass of the conduction electrons. Calculations for InSb and a typical laser intensity give a theoretical focal length of 2.06 mm.Keywords
