Budd-Chiari Syndrome Caused by a Right Atrial Tumor

Abstract

An unusual, previously unreported, and correctable cause of the Budd-Chiari syndrome was found to be a right atrial tumor. Because of the possibility of a primary intracardiac tumor which might be resectable, the patient underwent open-heart surgery, at which time the tumor was removed and found to be metastatic. It is important to look for potentially surgically correctable and curable types of lesions.
