Rapid Clinical Determination of Urinary 17-Ketosteroids

Abstract
The urine is hydrolyzed with 10% HC1, extracted for 10 mins. by refluxing with boiling CCl4, and the hormone content detd. by the alkaline m-dinitrobenzene technique. Tests of the accuracy of the method show a maximum variation of about [plus or minus] 5% for any stage of the process, and an overall variation of [plus or minus] 10% or less. Since the individual and daily variations are considerably in excess of this amt. the procedure is satisfactory for clinical use.
