Role of Metastable Dimers in the Theory of Induced Atomic Fluorescence

Abstract
It is found that the reduction of the induced-atomic-fluorescent signal due to the excitation of metastable dimers is significant. A reanalysis of experimental data on is presented which shows a milder variation of the transition moment with internuclear separation than obtained previously.
