Electronic structure of cesium adsorbed on Al(111)

Abstract
The electronic structure of Cs adsorbed on Al(111) was studied in order to provide experimental data for a comparison with density-functional calculations using the jellium model. The work function change data show excellent agreement with the theoretical predictions. Photoemission results give direct evidence for a coverage-dependent charge transfer between adsorbate and substrate. Electron energy loss spectra exhibit loss features which are close to atomic excitations, in disagreement with theoretical predictions.
