Rapid Production of Reconstruction Drawings from Serial Sections

Abstract

A method of preparing reconstruction drawings from serial histologic sections is described. Areas to be reconstructed are projected and the tissue components of interest traced. The tracings are transferred laterally onto grid lines which represent the plane of each section. The completed image is made by connecting the components of structures on adjacent lines. The procedure requires but little special equipment and is rapid, versatile and easily learned.
