Abstract
The composition oj models in spatial analysis. — Societies organise their space, and this organisation, which has its own rules, is one of the necessary conditions for their reproduction as societies. The name chorèmes will be given to the elementary structures for the organisation of space, in a limited number, for which a first, reasoned inventory is proposed here. Each of them are signs expressing in general strategies for dominating nature and others. The combination of these chorèmes produces the specific organisation of particular spaces. The theory for this is outlined here, with a corresponding given method, an experimental method based on the use of spatial models, the composition of elementary models into specific models and their relations with theoretical and general models : which is a way towards the solution of the contradictions between deductive and inductive methods, between nomothetical and idiographical approaches.
