The kinetics of the reorientation of magnetically induced anisotropy in stress free toroids of Ni 40Fe40P14B6 is reported. The anisotropy is deduced from measurements of the area between magnetization curves. Changes in direction of the induced anisotropy are assumed proportional to the changes in the remanence‐to‐saturation ratio. Isothermal anneals were performed in circumferential fields starting from the induced anisotropy perpendicular to the plane of the toroid. For a well annealed sample, simple first order kinetics were observed, suggesting a single rate process, with ΔE=1.4 eV and ν0=1011 sec−1.
