Finite-size scaling in Hamiltonian field theory

Abstract
A new method for investigating the behaviour of lattice Hamiltonian field theories is described. The method uses finite-size scaling to extrapolate finite-lattice results to the infinite chain limit. The technique is illustrated by application to the transverse Ising model and the (O(N)-Heisenberg Hamiltonians (N=2,3) in (1+1) dimensions. The accuracy of the method appears comparable to or better than existing approaches.
