Abstract
Spectrophotometric and chromatographic evidence was obtained of the presence of transaminases in cell-free extracts of Kalanchoe crenata leaves. The incorporation of C14O2 into aspartate and malate was shown by linkage of aspartic glutamic transaminase with phosphoenolpyruvic carboxylase and malic dehydrogenase also present in these extracts. Results are discussed in relation to the labelling of products in dark C14O2 fixation by Crassulacean plants.
