SOUND TRANSMISSION IN THE TURTLE'S EAR

Abstract
Species used were Chryemys picta picta and Pseudemys scripta. (No species differences were noted.) The structure of the turtle ear is described, and experiments carried out to test the functions, including those of the tympanic membrane and ossicular chain, the tympanic cavity, and the pericapsular recess.
