Serum Lipids in Patients with Multiple Sclerosis

Abstract
The levels of polyunsaturated fatty acids, total lipid phosphorus, and cholesterol were determined in the serums of 11 patients with MS in the "active", and in 9 patients in the "inactive" phase; serums from 8 patients with various nonmetabolic diseases were used as controls. The levels of dienoic acid in the serums of the patients with "inactive" MS were significantly higher than those in the other 2 groups. No significant differences were observed in the levels of the other lipids.
