Abstract
A study was made of the protein-bound iodine (PBI) of 20 young purebred Hampshire gilts and barrows; average weight 215 pounds. The average daily gain, back fat thickness, left hind leg growth and body length growth were recorded and their relation with PBI determined. The correlation between the PBI and the average daily gain, as well as the PBI and the body lengths, were negative and significant.
