Abstract
A serial tube dilution method using a small inoculum of a beta hemolytic streptococcus appeared satisfactory for the assay of aureomycin concns. in serum and urine. Following an initial oral dose of 1 g. max. serum concns. as high as 2.5 [mu]g./ml. were attained in 2-4 hrs. During continued admn., serum levels tended to increase gradually and exceed earlier concns. by several-fold. Following admn. of 50 mg. intraven., serum concns. as high as 5 [mu]g./ml. were reached in 5 min. followed by a gradual decline over a 6-hr. period. Keywords
