A Staining Technique for Nuclei of Rhizoctonia solani and Related Fungi

Abstract
A small drop of 0.5% aniline blue or trypan blue in lactophenol was placed directly on the mycelium midway between the center and the periphery of the fungal colony. Hyphal cells could be microscopically examined directly from the petri dish or from a slide. Most isolates had observable nuclei immediately after staining; a few required a 3-5 min incubation period.
