Metabolism of cu-64-labeled copper by the isolated rat liver

Abstract

The disposition of Cu64 by isolated, perfused rat livers was compared with that by intact rats. Hepatic uptake and biliary excretion of the Cu64 and emergence of labeled ceruloplasmin in the blood were comparable. It was concluded that, in the rat, ceruloplasmin is synthesized primarily, or perhaps only, by the liver.
