BIOCHEMICAL INVESTIGATIONS IN ALLERGIC CONDITIONS

Abstract
In certain untreated allergic conditions ("asthma-prurigo group") there is a high amino-acid content of the blood, which rises still higher during acute attacks. Parallel with this rise the chloride content of the whole blood[long dash]chiefly of the corpuscles[long dash]falls; the free acidity of the urine and the ammonia excretion rises; urates are deposited when the urine cools; the water excretion diminishes; chlorides are retained; and the ether reaction becomes strongly positive. With subsidience of parox-isms the findings become normal.
