A new cyclam with an appended imidazole. The first biomimetic ligation of imidazole for axial π-interaction with metal ions

Abstract

A new cyclam functionalised with a pendant imidazole (4) is reported; the X-ray crystal structure of its Ni^II complex (6) shows the most appropriate orientation of the imidazole for axial π-interaction with metal ions.
