Abstract
Prepns. of relaxin from the ovaries of pregnant sows and from the blood of pregnant rabbits inhibit the development of a decidual reaction in the uterus of the castrated pseudopregnant rat following traumatization and treatment with progesterone. Partially-purified relaxin samples also contain a heat-labile factor which synergizes with progesterone in the development of deciduomata. On the basis of expts. with relaxin prepns. covering a wide range of specific activities, and the effects of a variety of chemical reagents, it is concluded that the inhibitory property of such prepns. is a specific response to relaxin. Keywords
