An unusual grain boundary diffusion effect in impure nickel

Abstract
The formation of ridges at the grain boundaries of nickel during thermal etching has been observed. The effect is attributed to the diffusion of vacancies along the grain boundaries into the specimen, caused by the formation of internal gas bubbles.Keywords
