Field experiments in cotton were conducted to determine the response of Heliothis zea (Boddie) to 3 spray drop size classes of 254, 396, and 556 μm which were applied in all combinations with 1, 2, and 3 gal/acre using a jet stream atomization system with electrostatic drop dispersion. There was no significant difference in square damage between any of the treatments. Yield data showed significantly poorer yields for the small drop size classes for all spray volume. Fiber quality characteristics indicated no differences in fineness, fiber strength, uniformity ratio, and span length that could be attributed to the treatments.
