Abstract
The Fourier expansion method developed by Window for the evaluation of hyperfine field distributions has been tested on simulated Mössbauer spectra. In the case of a distribution with a low-field tail this method may lead to erroneous results if the intrinsic Mössbauer parameters characterizing the component spectra are not chosen properly. Keywords
