Abstract
1,3-Dithianes derived from aromatic, aliphatic, and alicyclic ketones or aldehydes can be conveniently converted to the parent carbonyl compounds with a combination of ferric nitrate and silica gel in hexane in excellent to quantitative yields.Keywords
