Abstract
Two techniques are described for preparation of thin foils from longitudinal and transverse sections of fine wire. The technique for longitudinal sections involves the use of a purpose-built jig, whilst transverse sections are prepared by a modified disk-thinning technique. The methods have been applied to niobium-titanium superconductor wire and also aluminium, copper and tungsten wires. Keywords
