Principal Contributions of Coolie Verner To a Discipline of Adult Education

Abstract
This article reviews some of the contributions of Coolie Verner to the development of a discipline of adult education. Three types of contribu tions are focused upon: defining adult education as a discipline and field, classifying the processes of adult education, and studying adult education as an innovation which can be diffused and adopted. Verner's writings in those areas are summarized and analyzed and their influence on adult education is assessed.Keywords
