PHENOL COEFFICIENTS

Abstract
The author states that a phenol coefficient indicates relative germicidal efficiency under laboratory conditions only, and has no practical value. Users of disinfectants ordinarily “follow directions,” and employ the dilutions recommended by the manufacturers. This author suggests that we make certain that the recommended dilutions are efficient, and cast aside the coefficient.Keywords
