The sudden decrease in blood and tissue histamine in the rabbit following the induction of anaphylactic shock was investigated by studies on serum histaminase before and following the induction of anaphylaxis in this species. A consistent increase in serum histaminase was found to occur. The decrease in histamine may perhaps be due to the activation of the enzyme histaminase during rabbit anaphylaxis.-Bram Rose.
