PROTON MAGNETIC RESONANCE ABSORPTION IN THE C-FORM OF STEARIC ACID

Abstract
The proton magnetic resonance absorption in the C-form of stearic acid has been measured over a temperature range from −78 °C to the melting point. The results suggest that the methyl end groups may be free to rotate about their triad axes throughout this temperature range, and that premelting becomes significant above 40 °C.
