Demonstration of Antibodies to Deoxyribonucleic Acid by Counterelectrophoresis

Abstract
Counter electrophoresis (CEP) was used to demonstrate the presence of antibodies to DNA in the sera of patients suffering from systemic lupus erythematosus. The method described is rapid, simple, easy to perform, and sensitive. Washington the agar slides in saline on completion of CEP is of great importance, as a number of lines resembling the precipitating lines disappear after washing.
