Abstract
The corpuscular blood-chloride and corpuscular blood-iron have been determined by direct and several indirect methods and the errors investigated. Congestion of the arm causes concentration of Fe in whole venous blood, diminished Cl in the plasma and increased Cl in the corpuscles. Heating the arm may raise the Fe content and is associated with increased plasma and diminished corpuscular chlorides in the venous blood. The changes induced by congestion are not completely reversed by oxygenation and venous samples for the analysis of blood Fe and Cl should be taken without congestion.
