COMPARISON OF THE EFFECT OF 11-KETOPROGESTERONE, llα-HYDROXYPROGESTERONE AND 11β-HYDROXYPROGESTERONE UPON THE GLYCOSURIA OF THE PARTIALLY DEPANCREATIZED RAT

Abstract

Partially depancreatized force-fed rats were injd. with doses up to 50 mg./rat/day of 11[alpha] -hydroxyprogesterone with only a small increase in the level of glycosuria. The compounds 11-ketoprogesterone and 11 [beta] -hydroxyprogesterone are significantly more potent in respect to diabeto-genicity and this effect is manifest in either the presence or absence of the adrenal glands.
