Adherence of Ceramic Coatings on Chromium-Cobalt Structures

Abstract
A method was developed that would provide attachment of a ceramic layer to Vitallium substrates. The critical step involves etching the metal by an electrochemical treatment. The corroded metal surface has a large surface area that enables the ceramic to attach to the metal structure. A mechanical bond is indicated, and the strength of adhesion is related to the amount of surface area.
