Abstract
Cervical vertebral dislocation occasionally occurs as a result of vertex impact. The injury was noted in rugby players after unsuccessful tackles. The mechanism of injury is discussed and a case presented. Severe traumatic forces are involved and strengthening of the cervical muscles is suggested to decrease the incidence of these injuries.
